INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEAN-UP 2008
Saturday September 20, 2008 from 7:00 am – 10:00 am.
The National Planning Committee has launched the International Coastal Clean-up for 2008. SWMCOL, who is a member of this Committee, is spearheading efforts at Mayaro Beach from Grand Lagoon Beach to Indian Bay on Saturday September 20, 2008 from 7:00 am – 10:00 am.
This important annual data collection exercise is listed by Ocean Conservancy International as the most successful volunteer event of its kind. Each year there are thousands of volunteers from around the globe. Last year 378,000 people from 76 countries and 45 states cleared six million tons of trash from oceans and waterways, with each piece of trash collected being carefully recorded. Each item collected is documented and tabulated.
The waterways identified for this year’s activity are:
INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEAN-UP Sites for 2008 - (as at 03-Sep-08)
Trinidad waterways Organisations Tobago waterways Organisations
Salybia Environmental Management Authority Grand Courland Bay Tobago – Tobago House of Assembly – Department of Natural Resources & The Environment

Yeah..I think the rivers need clean up a lot! When I came this past summer and went to Caura..it was just nasty, garbage was all over, on land and in water. It just takes away the natural beauty of the place, and not to mention bad sanitation.

This is a great thread SOLACHICA because it will be so nice if we could clean up our rivers and coast so that
they are like it used to be in the 1950's
