Sawine recipe........

[sapodila]

I'm on time this time .........Saltwater! :lol:

Sawine

Ingredients

1 lb vermicelli
2 tins evaporated milk
1 pk (full cream) milk
1 cup. granulated sugar
¼ cup raisins
¼ cup chopped almonds ( optional.... I don't like almonds in sawine but folks do )
2 oz butter
2 cinnamon sticks
6 cloves
2 eliche
water to boil. approx 5 cups to cover when boiling.

Prep

Break sawine (vermicelli) into small pieces.

Parch in butter with two sticks cinnamon and 2 cloves, until golden brown.

Boil in water with eliche and cook until soft.

Add raisins and cover pot.

Turn off stove.

Separately bring to boil both milk and sugar together over slow heat, stirring occasionally.

When ready to mix, add milk to boiled sawine.

If using nuts..... fry chopped almonds in a little butter and add as a garnish.

Enjoy hot or cold! :D

Roti was mouldy, and the curry was off.
It look good and smell ok, and that had to be good enough for me.

Glad I could help :D My cousin in law does put cherries too..........and it does get pink from the cherry juice but it does taste nice. I made some yesterday too, too late to share everybody to far away and the fridge have a pot full. Looks like sawine and sawine fuh dinner tonight :roll:

Amelia, I think some ppl just can't eat much after fasting all month. I had to literally force myself into eating something at lunch time (2 pieces of duck and mabe 2 tablespoons of fried rice) and I had no choice but to take lots of liquids because of the flu.

I had no sawine but indulged in some pineapple upside down and cheese cake this morning.

No Saps, I diden get stuck no where. I was just to busy liming to think about Eid. Is only when I see yr sawine recipe I said "oops". And to think last year I rell fast and ting.
