I got a call last night from my sister concerning my mother. My sister told me that somebody ran my mother off the road. As soon as she said that I told told her that I was going to buy a phone card and hung up the phone. I bought a card and instead of calling my sister I called my mom. My mom told me that a few nights ago around 7:30 pm she was walking around the corner to go visit her friend and while walking she heard a car coming towards her quite quickly and when she turned around the lights were so bright and the car was so close to her that she got startled and she fell into a drain. The guy who was driving stopped and told her 'get out ah dey nah' and drove off.
Now my mother laying at home with a swollen leg and aching body all because of an idiot. Theres a few reason this happened beside the guy being a total idiot:
1. He was drunk/tipsy.
2. He just got done buying drugs/ammunition from Marac/La Lune or anywhere in that area and trying to get out of the country as soon as he could.
3. Or he is just an idiot like I said before.
Either way God don't like ugly. All I know is God will deal with him in His own time. But that man is a lucky man my mom didn't recognize him because not everyone in my family thinks like I do.
As I say that, I'm about to call her. I just thought I'd share the above with you guys.

Sorry to hear what happened to your mom, hope she recovers quickly.
That's one of many reasons, we aren't out after 6:00pm. Literally. I know it can happen during the day as well but I'm not taking risks like that at night.

Thanks Chicabonita. It's sad because my mom is the type of person who loves to walk. And when I say love, ah mean she luv to walk. She'll soon be okay. It's just unfortunate that this happened though I am grateful that her life wasn't taken.

I'm so sorry that this happened to your mom. *hugs* My best wishes go out to her. I hope she feels better soon. Thankfully nothing worse happened. Recently a couple guys tried to rob my dad when he came out of the bank but he defended himself well and when other people saw what was happening they started coming forward and the guys ran off. Nothing serious happened to my dad, thank God but he had a tiny bump on his forehead.

BG, sorry to hear about your dad. It's sad when innocent ppl get hurt especially when they minding dey own business. I spoke to my mom earlier on today and she told me that she was in some pain but she'll be okay. My mother is a trooper (thank God) and she believes in God so I know that she will be okay. But at the same time she is under a lot of stress from other family matters etc. and now this. Some ppl have the nerves. :x
(counting 1...2.....3.....4.....5)
Thank God she wasn't killed and thank God her physical hurt will soon go away. Amen
And BG, thank God your dad is still alive too because at the rate things going even when you try to defend yourself (or even when there are ppl around), yuh could still get kill.
God help Trinidad and Tobago.

Just read this post syxxi-fux
I am so sorry to hear what has happened to your mom. Let her know that I am (and probably many more Expats) pulling for her, and hope that she has a complete recovery soon. Considering the state of things in T&T, she is extremely lucky to have 'walked away' from that incident.

Sorry to read about your mother. The daily neews reveal that we are a uncivilised, babaric pple. Sorry about the decent civilized ones in the nation, but they seem to be in the minority/ migrating or hiding no doubt while the babarians are taking over controll or even coming in from other places. Please ask your mother to walk on mornings, or perhaps somewhere where there is a pavement that in not a cesspool of holes and filth. I am talking from experience. Take her dog or friend for company. That barbarian was not even capable of conversing with her in a pleasant manner. Respect for othere, forget it!! We are already there backward vision to 0200/0200

:) Thanks to everyone for what was said. I will be sure to let my mom know. Your comments will put a smile on her face. And I am thankful to God that she hopped away and wasn't killed. Whatever she was put on this earth to do, she must not have accomplished it yet or she has more of it to do. I'm just thankful that she is alive. Thanks guys/ladies.

She was walking
A car with the lights on came close to her
she got startled by the light
she FELL into a drain
the driver of the car said " get out of there nah"..now that's just plain bad manner that he said that
What a huge crime , someone got starled by a car's lights and fell into a drain , so is the car's fault
Next time drive with the lights off at nights so nobody will fall into a drain
I AM SO SORRY THAT SHE FELL
but I fail to see how the car/driver was at fault except for his bad manners

You know what Deeva......... That is the only thing I could do right now. Laugh....
Everyone else understands but you. It only takes one. Just like it took 1 idiot driver to cause my mother to fall in that ditch. I'm not calling you an idiot (I hope you understand that). I'm just saying that the information given is so clear (well I guess not to you).
I'll explain.
My mother was walking around a corner around 7:30 pm one night to go visit a friend, when she heard a car coming very quickly towards her. The car was facing her back. By the time she turned around the car was close enough upon her that she couldn't even make out the colour of the car, farless what type of car it was because the lights of the car was so bright. Being startled by the noise, the closeness of the car at that point, her age, etc she fell into a ditch.
I hope you understand what happened now. If you don't, ah well. No skin off my back or anywhere else for that matter.
In the area where my mom lives people does fly around that corner like they have no sense. Normally people does have time to at least jump out the way (I grew up there) but this time my mom wasn't lucky (in that sense).
By the way thanks for at least realizing the driver had bad manners and my mom fell. the fact that you can't connect the two is beyond me. Have a great fall free life.

Its funny but I had to go back and re-read all of the posts as I didn't remember anyone using the CRIME word, and yes indeed, Deeva was the first, and she did call it correctly (be it factiously).
Yes , this was a 'Huge Crime'; and I am sure if the laws were examined closely (even in T&T)you may find that there is a law, something to the effect of.... 'reckless operation of a motor vehicle, resulting in bodily harm'; something along those lines.
If a driver has to share the roads with pedestrians, then he has to be cognizant that their safety is paramount; it is incumbent upon the driver to take whatever precautions are necessary to ensure that the pedestrian does not come to any harm as a result of his driving. While it may not always be obvious, in this world there are people who are legally blind, deaf, physically challenged, and even inebriated who use the roadways; in the absence of their ability to use what a driver may consider to be 'good judgment', it is incumbent upon the driver to take the necessary steps, and use whatever courtesies are at his disposal to ensure that no harm comes to the pedestrian.
This attitude of 'you should get out of the way', or 'jump for your life' is totally ignorant; put yourself in the pedestrian's position, who in their right mind would deliberately go 'one on one with a vehicle? Even though the driver may at the time think the person is wrong, or not using the best judgment, he still has to act like a responsible human being, if he doesn't .... it's a huge crime.

Snowbird you did shed some light on the situation.
With the rate things are going in Trinidad the law seems to be non-existant.
Everytime somebody get kill its because the police say it is gang related.
I wonder if the sky high price of food, shelter etc is gang related too. lol
I don't know if it's true or not but it sounds highly suspect.
The only time someone's death isn't associated with gangs is when they drown or somebody drink poison.
Trinidad is still a beautiful place (I am proud to say that I was born and raised there) but the are a few kinks that need to be straightened out.

Deeva......... are you slow......or is it that your eye sight that needs to be fixed...... didn't you read that I said she heard the car coming.......what is wrong with you?......I'm not going to encourage you ignorance anymore.....seriously.....you just have a good life......at least that's what my mother will tell you.
From my previous post:
My mother was walking around a corner around 7:30 pm one night to go visit a friend, when she heard a car coming very quickly towards her...
I think you're just out to start some mess. I think you get a high from staying ignorant despite someone giving you the facts.
Be sure to read all the post before making your own post.

FACT her falling in a drain is not the car's fault . IT"S JUST A MISHAP a very unfortunate one indeed
The car did not hit her and made her to fall in the drain nor did the driver pushed her himself.
I just don't see how and why should this be on the crime board .
Social Issue yes indeed.
Jeez next thing you know she or someone else lost a penny and we'll see that on the crime board also.
I can see it now
BANDIT ROBBED A PERSON FOR A PENNY !
OR
Penny stole from someone who accidently dropped it on the floor
