For those of you who didn't read out this story in yesterday's express here's the link

http://www.trinidadexpress.com/index.pl/article_news?id=161216767

I actually know the family and the crap that happened to Mr. Gangroo. Can you belive when he went to the Chaguanas hospital they didn't have any ambulance to carry him to Mt. Hope and his brother-in-law had to take him i his own car  ? Yes, Mr. Gangroo conscious the whole, given no pain medication by the doctors in Chaguanas had to sit in at least 1hr. worth of traffic from Chaguanas to Mt. Hope bleeding away in the backseat. Nurses and doctors pass this man bleeding to death in the waiting room at Mt. Hope because he's not an emergency case  . If having 9 bullets in your head doesn't qualify you as an emergency case what does? If you saw the x-ray and I'm not a medical person or anything the bullets just pass through the skull at the back of his head the doctors didn't even try to operate they just send the man home. No medication or nothing. The man is conscious, can walk some and sit up but them shameless doctors who took an oath to save people's lives could care less about some taxidriver. You know what the scary thing is? When Mt. Hope first took the x-ray they told the family it only had 3 bullets left in his head. Imagine the family horror when doctors in Couva hospital do another x-ray and found 9! I was shocked when his sister call me telling me is 9 bullets they find and show me the x-ray and plain as day I could count nine bullets! So not only we have heartless doctors at Mt. Hope but they can't count neither! Lord put ah hand!Right now I coming up with new names for Mt. Hope. Yuh have Mt. Hopeless, Dead Hope, No Hope. Lord have mercy yes.

My 5 year old sister died after a heart operation there. I don't want to even start about Mt. Hope.

Why isn't this being highlighted at rallies? In the newspapers? Letters to the Ombudsman? People need to start letter writing and putting up billboards and 30 second television ads if they want to get their utter disappointment across to the powers that be.

Iam so sick of certain things at home eh but England only just a bit better especially at the level they claim to be at.

I know of 2 experiences at the Chaguanas health center because of no ambulance. My 3 yr old nephew swallowed a chennet seed and was rushed to the Chag health center with the seed lodged in his throat. That health institution had no abulance and no doctor. No nurse tried to help. The child father was advised to take his son to the POS hosp. While sitting in the traffic in the hot sun the child died in his mother's arms.
The other was of a a kid, around 12 yrs old, who was tinkling with car parts in a garage and something exploded on him. He was brought to the HC with 90 % burns over his body. No ambulance. At the time I was in a Ministry of health van at the HC about to head back to POS. We were asked to take the boy to the POS hosp. We did. He died a couple days after at the hosp.
I wish they could find a way to hold the authorities responsible for this.

OMG...sad that we cannot get good health care in this country. i guess if you don't have money to go to a private institution then you've to suffer or die..

The world need to know what's going on back there in Triniland, you have a leader who uses a different brush to paint a picture of the oil rich country for the world to see, one that's perfect I might add. The media is very heplful in exposing those in high offices ( who you the citizens put there in the first place), for not getting the job done right.

I remember a time I went to the Chaguanas Health Centre and a lady came in becasue she had cut off all five toes on her right foot with the lawnmower. Why she was cutting the lawn wearing sandals is beyond me  Anyway she was wheeled in to an examination room with her son carrying her toes in a plastic container. While the lady sitting waiting in the exam, here comes the only doctor on staff carrying a medical textbook muttering to herself while turning pages "Toes, toes........ how to reattach toes." Well yuh girl get frighten yes. I had to run out of there. A textbook, I still can't believe it.
