Why is more emphasis (in Trinidad and Tobago) placed on Eid ul-Fitr rather than Eid ul-Adha?

I dunno. Maybe you should explain to us (or me) why more emphasis should be placed on eid ul adha.

Can someone tell me when is EID.

Could be either the 12th or 13th October.
Depends on the moon sighting

December 20th would be Eid ul-Adha I am guessing.

I was always told tht Worldwide Eid ul-Adha was the bigger celebration.....don't know why in Trini it's not. Maybe it has something to do with Eid ul-Fitr being a Public Holiday here and not Eid ul-Adha so you actually see it being celebrated.

Because around this period muslims exercise the fifth pillar of islam. The Hadj.... I've shared house with muslims from Pakistan and just as Eid ul-Adha appears to be off the radar to TnT's national community, way less emphasis is placed on Eid ul-Fitr.

Maybe ancestry has a part to play in the observance of both holidays. Maybe they could not afford to make the trip to Mecca for the pilgrimage back in the days, so they settled for what they could afford.......Eid-ul-Fitr over the Hajj and Eid -ul- Adha. Just my take on the topic.

Yea, my friend from Bangladesh celebrates Eid al-Adha, her dad is the one who sacrifices the sheep and also they sacrifice a bull, but i have no clue why in trinidad they don't really celebrate it as a major islamic holiday..

maybe eid-ul-fitr is bigger cuz it follows ramadan (in miss the lil shrugging smiley face on this forum)
