falco, whats in question is the money owed to the players by the football federation, the gorvernment already played their part and honoured their commitment, its yr thieving mate jack warner, who's now charging the players for hotel travel and food at the world cup, which we all know was footed by fifa.

Your up and coming Minister of Sport should recognise the funders of the football association. And take responsibility.

sacks,
listen to what Fazeer have to say today. Now usually he does write all flowery for cricket, a fare palatable to Cricinfo and therefore Fazeer increases profile...so I understand that. When you get him to write for the local audience only, he reverts to his old honest analytical style. No different here in this piece:
http://www.trinidadexpress.com/index.pl ... =161217967 (http://www.trinidadexpress.com/index.pl/article_sports?id=161217967)
Before the UNC Alliance faithful or other Warner loyalists get worked up over what they perceive to be a politically-inspired attack on their man, the responsibility for the FIFA vice-president being virtually a law unto himself in local football rests with all of us, the ones who have just stood by and allowed the situation to develop into a one-man show.
How many times have you heard people closely involved with the game express serious misgivings about something or the other yet choose to remain quietly subservient, either because they have something to gain by their silence or they just prefer not to have to cross swords with such a powerful man?
Our lack of collective backbone has created an environment where those with the means to exert influence are given free rein to ride roughshod over established procedure and protocol, whether in sport, politics, business or anything else for that matter.
Such chaos has inevitable consequences, and while last week's elimination from Qlympic qualification does not automatically spell doom for our next World Cup bid, it should open our eyes to the reality that we have not really progressed significantly in the 16 months since the Germany experience.
