i heard this being advertised on hott93 this morning and decided to check out the website:
http://www.flowtrinidad.com/u-talk/u-talk.html#1
does an yone have it? do you find it worthwhile?
i was looking at the pricing and thought it would be a complete waste of time for me. i have the tstt smart choce gold package which is much MUCH more economical than flow u-talk...

There's a full page ad in today's papers about the service. It's limited in terms of areas of operation as it's only available in 'digital ready areas only' which leaves out a large part of the country right there.
The quality of the call should be clearer than a normal landline or mobile phone call as it's digital but the pricing,on the other hand, leaves a lot to be desired...

i find the pricing is quite high. i don;'t really see value-for-money in this.
smart choice gold is much more cost effective.
even certain postpaid mobile packages make more sense...
i don't really think they will do well.

well to be fair, it makes sense is you intend to use your phone to call the US/Canada/UK only.

What to look out for is the basic package with no service charge and free FLOW to FLOW calls. From what I see of it, FLOW broadband customers should be able to just plug in a phone into their modem and have use of the basic package with free FLOW to FLOW and only get billed if they make calls to the TSTT network.
That alone will get people using the network. It's a decent strategy.

I think that by year's end it will be a considerable number. There is a demand for broadband services, and Flow's service once implemented will have a much larger coverage area than TSTT's Blink service. Remember DSL is limited to a radius around the exchange, Cable is available anywhere the cable lines are run. The service is also both faster and cheaper than Blink.
So considering what their market penetration may become over the next couple months, giving free Flow-to-Flow calls would by itself get people using that feature at least. But you know, this isn't going to be a big hit with residential consumers for a long time. It's just something they can offer to a niche market. Where Flow stands to make a killing off this service is corporate voice solutions.

I guess that that's why Blink and Flow are battling for corporate accounts like ours...

There are a lot of areas of the country where TSTT's land line service is terrible. Many people go for months without service and TSTT still insists you pay the bill. I know quite a few people at work who will sign up for this service just to not have to deal with TSTT.
The rates for me are okay. I don't see much of a difference in the rates for how I use my phone now. I can see for people who make a lot of local calls this not making much sense.
Their problem will be coverage in that not many areas have digital service. I hope this changes soon. I for one can't wait to jettison my TSTT land line.

It's a good backup in any case especially since Flow to Flow calls are free, just have all your friends with flow keep a phone plugged into the modem. Free calls (for now) and an alternative line in case the tstt goes down. Then again everyone has a cell phone so maybe not worth the hassle,
