The ticking of the biological clock in women, in men too? I guess...
So where did this expression come from and what age does that clock start ticking madly?
How old is too old to start having children or stop having children?
My students told me by the age of 27 a woman should be married and have 2 children.
I looked at them increduously as they said "Miss yuh cutting it close yuh know!" after they found out my age somehow.
What's your view?

Well, in my case I don't think that people should marry just because they are going down in age. I think we should wait for the right person because we're talking about a lifelong commitment that should be based on love, respect, proper communication etc. As for children though, I did hear on Oprah that by 27, a woman's fertility starts to decrease. Waiting too long increases the chance of miscarriages. However I don't think that we have to marry and settle down by a certain age just because other people are doing it. These are serious things that can't be rushed.

I'm just 25 and a half, I'm not worried about having children and getting married.

I agree. A woman can have children up until menopause....the chances are decreased but its not impossible!

people not getting married early again. Most of them are to busy with school and wait until they graduate and get a job etc.
At tht age of your students they must be thinking 25 is real old. I know I used to think so at tht age

Since I had my birthday yesterday, I turned 26 and of course had the usual comments of it’s time to settle down and start having children  . Right now I’m in my second year of a 3 yr course, in a steady job, have my own place and just really happy with my life right now. Why mess that up by finding and marrying Mr. Wrong to live unhappily ever after in marital discontent?

Exactly! :) Plus, rushing it and settling down with the wrong man and on top of that with children...that doesn't make for domestic bliss.

I haven't reached 35 yet and I have three kids but I want a large family. :) 39 is my limit. Too many complications after 40's.

I thinking I want now but I'd not have after 35 becasue the ones I already have will be 14 - 16. I already think that is a big age difference, which is why I'd probably have 2 this time round and not far apart, so they would have each other to grow up with. If it dont happen by 35 I'd not bother.

As for the biological clock ticking, only mother nature has control over that. Some women have an early menopause (some as early as 30's).
