A WOMAN who was sneaked, by an army private, into Camp Ogden was raped by two soldiers in uniform at gunpoint .

The 25-year-old woman reported the rape to the St James police and a medical examination confirmed that she was sexually assaulted.

Camp Ogden, located at Long Circular Road, St James, is home to the army's First Infantry Battalion. Checks at the camp confirmed that two soldiers were being investigated for the rape. The army is also investigating how a civilian could have been smuggled into the camp.

Yesterday an official from the Regiment's public affairs unit said that the incident at Camp Ogden was being investigated by the army and at the end of it anyone found guilty would be disciplined.

The army investigation is separate from the police probe of the rape which is said to have taken place around midnight last Wednesday.

The woman went to the camp to meet a male friend, a soldier attached to the camp and who was on duty. She was smuggled into the camp from the southern side of the facility which borders a crematorium, investigators said.

While inside the camp, the soldier whom the woman went to meet told her that he had an errand to run and would return.

Investigators said they were looking into allegations that as soon as he left, the two soldiers took the woman to a shed on the south western part of the compound where a gun was put to her head and she was raped by one soldier and forced to perform oral sex on the other.

The two soldiers then left her and the private she went to meet never returned, investigators said. The woman then walked through the army camp and was later taken to the police station.

What goes around comes around, I hope dem officers and dem know dat. What does amaze me is the fact dat soldiers and police officers in Trinidad does say dey going to 'look into the situation' and they doesn't do one thing. All ah dem covering up for one another. what these officers and dem doing? ppl dey want us to believe that they going to 'do something' get to the 'bottom of things'. when it have so many unsolved murders and rapes etc in Trinidad that they can't solve or wont solve because everybody in the justice system covering up for one another. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME SHAME, SHAME ON THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

She should have known that something was irregular when she had to be smuggled into the compound. Was this the first time she was smuggled into the army camp? My gut feeling tells me no.

In any event, if this is truly a rape case, the two soldiers should be discharged and face criminal charges. The third soldier who had to run on the 'errand' should also be investigaged and disciplined if he had a part in this crime.

Even if she was 'smuggled in' a thousand times; even if she did have consentual sex on every one of those occasions, does that give them the right to rape her on this occasion? I hope they throw the book at the Officers....... no still mens no!!!
