I am trying to decide if to take up an offer in TnT. What can anyone tell me about the salary and compensation package one should expect for a mid mgmt/ graduate trained/ technical specialist type position in Trinidad? Is compensation different for expats and locals? I am a TnT national but have lived abroad for several years. What are the differences in compensation in different sectors - energy, health, finance, education? Have public sector job compensation caught up with the private sector?

what field are you looking at? it sometimes depends on the field and as far as i know expats don't get different compensations.(i might be wrong there) and in my particular case, no public has not caught up with private in compensation..

it really depends on the sector that you get into....the different sector pay differently...but as for paying expats different...i don't think that happens....it will be based on qualifications/experience

As for the public sector catching up with the private....No.

I am looking at a couple of interesting options. One is with an energy multinational, another is with the Univeristy of TnT and another is with a new government agency/authority. I think you're right about ex pat salaries but form a few people i've talked to it seems that expats do get some more perks/incentives than returning locals - such as paid housing, dependants allowances etc.
