Whey Sheppy?

Dark we all feel ya pain, but Trinidad is hard now. Unless you have a rich father or husband who minding yuh or even a really great paying job to take care of your rent, overheads and entertainment girl....yuh arse is dark literally.

Trinidad doh favour yuh if yuh scrunting and wukking in a cloth store. There are no rewards whatsoever unless yuh very very lucky financially.

Darkangel,

Why are you worried about your safety in Trinidad? The last time I checked, only the gangbangers and people of means were in dire straits.

Spicy,

That was a random act, a fluke if you may. Toronto has a low murder rate, extremely low when compared to Trinidad, and innocent people have died here in the crossfire of punks firing in public. I am sure the same holds for the good old USA, where the author of this thread is a resident.

Here is the thing since I tired hear people try to make all kinds of circular arguments about crime and children and whatever else. Can anybody tell me for sure that they believe that if a different party is in charge of Trinidad that crime will magically disappear? Do anybody really believe that criminals care about who in charge? Criminals break the law and they will continue to break the law no matter who is the PM.

The bigger question I think Trinidadians and Tobago people need to ask themselves is what kind of citizens and mentality causes this type of behavior? For instance, look at how people drive in Trinidad, they have no regard for rules, law, and (or) safety. What kind of example do people think they are setting to the impressionable when they show disregard for the laws they don't like?

It is an attitude! And this attitude extends to almost every aspect of "Trini culture." Everything had to have some "bobbol" involved and the sad thing is almost everybody agrees with it simply because the "next person" doing it.

Scale that mentality up and throw in guns, gangs, and drugs (common is almost every society) and add that Trinidadian attitude, the disregard for law and order, what do you think the result will be?

So how about this, instead of judging the government, waiting for that magic bullet and perpetuating that plantation mentality (that massa go fix everything), maybe the citizens should take responsibility and judge themselves, then maybe there might be change.

Instead of turning a blind eye on the drug dealer because he go "help you out" if you have a "problem" or the mentality that "once is not me, me ent care," who knows what kind of miracles might happen...

If you don't believe me, ask the ex-pats! When they go to the "whiteman country," they are on they best behavior, I bet they don't even spit on the sidewalks. In Trinidad, different story, (well even before they reach) they looking for shortcut at the airport, and somebody to "help dem out," and they not only spitting on the side walk they throwing their Carib bottles where ever. No care, no worries, this is Trinidad many would say.

Instead of government and magic bullet, how about the citizens adjusting their attitudes? Maybe?

So to answer you question, if you happy already, remain happy do what you doing, no need to get greedy. Greediness of the problem that Trinidad has to deal with as it is, all right?
