I am on the market for a new car and went in to Toyota today to look at the much famed hilux.
Everything went well, I liked what I saw, then I heard the prices

- 2012 model 4 x 2 fabric interior - $ 318,000

- 2012 model 4 x 4 fabric interior - $ 274,000

-2012 model 4 X 4 leather interior - $ 291,000

Now what amazes me is the 4 X 4 models are much cheaper than the 4 x 2 model and this absolutely no sense to me...

What are your thoughts on the above ??

To maintain your warranty you wud have to carry the vehicle to service at the firm.
Most firms have a 75000-100000km or 3yrs warranty time.

maybe the 4x2 has greater demand

Trini do, why don't you bring in the vehicle yourself?

That invalidation of your warranty should be challenged in court.

In the UK, it was proven by law, that the independent garages had software which was reasonably up to date (usually one or two updates behind the dealerships) to be able to successfully diagnose and repair a reasonable majority of faults. Warranties would not be invalidated if genuine parts were used.

The dealerships had to get their rasses into gear and honour warranties even if customers opted out of their dig-yuh-eye-out service charges. The first time I serviced my car in the UK, I didnt know about this, so I paid 650£ for a minor service. Next time, it was 125£ for a major service at an independent garage.

I wud go with the 4x4 fabric interior.
Insurance might be 15-20k more or less depending on your discounts and persons name on insurance driving experience etc.

I feel..they are somehow putting the new 2012 grill on the old model...that is the bad feeling I have..
for instance the showroom 4X 2 ( $ 318k version) had a reverse camera but the 4X4s will not

but isn't reverse cameras standard now?
