Disclaimer: This ain't a man bashing thread and is not totally related to chivalry.

Having said that, I am totally disgusted with the lack of courtesy of people in general (men and women) in certain situations.

Especially on the road, and those are endless stories.

Like why d france "the right of way" does not apply at roundabouts anymore, taxi, maxi, everything rushing through.
And why do some people rush you even though some truck or van park up on their side but they are supposed to stop and let you pass?
(And again I'm saying I'm not bashing men, but I notice more men do the above most times)

And crossing the street is a nightmare, even the elderly and children have to suffer when they do the right thing and wait at the pedestrian crossing for cars to stop but end up waiting a whole 2-5 minutes to cross.

I notice also that when two people, man & woman, approach a door at the same time from opposite directions, the man will boldfacedly rush through instead of allowing the woman to pass.

And when you're waiting outside an ATM in the hot sun and there is enough space inside for you to enter, a man or woman inside will not be so kind as to open the door for you to let you in.

I don't want to even start to talk about customer service.

What are your experiences?

Well at the atm security takes precedence over politeness. I wouldnt let anyone in if the door is closed behind me (i feel more secure). I say let them use their bankcard to come in for themselves. When i'm on my way out i'll gladly hold the door open for them while making sure i'm not blocking the camera.

When someone gives me a chance on the road I does always be surprised. I even stop cussing ppl for not using indicator. I does just drive defensively. I have come to accept that one in every two drivers out there is a complete idiot.

When it comes to good customer service, I am also stunned when I experience it and thoroughly value, and when possible, reward it. I do not tip for mediocre service. I work hard for meh money.

i think trinidadians are the most indisciplined people on the face of the plantet.
courtesy? what is that?

i don't expect it.
and i'm doomed to always have poor customer service.

but if i took it on too much (and do take it on), i'd have a stroke!

This does get me real vex  Hold open the door cretin. Like your mother didn't teach you any manners? Sure if I reach before a guy and his hands are full or whatever I have no problem holding the door open. Whenver a guy holds open a door for me I always make sure to smile and say thank you.

I don't want to even start to talk about customer service.

TSTT. Need i say more. I remember a time I call TSTT and they number was out of service :? Well yes, sombody forget to pay they bill or what :? Then you have to wait hours literally hours to get a canned answer about how nobody knows how to fix your problem  Don't talk about them sales girls in clothing stores! I mean is there a reason you need to be breathing on my neck and hovering like a spaceship? Yeah you are so not getting a sale with that kind of behaviour!

After I got in an accident, I'm driving more defensively as well.

I try not to cuss as well when I get a bad drive. Don't trinis use indicators any more? Or even hand signals to indicate they're slowing down/stopping?

TSTT is....I dunno wat to say nah.
I made a report about 2 weeks ago about these harassing/threatening phone calls I've been receiving and I requested to have the number traced, but their legal dept has not gotten back to me yet. I need this number to give to the police with whom I've also lodged a report so they will be able to investigate. So if God forbid this person actually intends to carry out the threats, I have to sue TSTT cuz they placed my life in danger by not giving me the info I requested in proper time? Anyway that's another matter.

Back to courtesy, another thing I've noticed is that people park outside certain establishments on the road, blocking the ppl who rightly parked in the space allocated in front of the establishment, so when u ready to leave u have to wonder who d hell park up behind u blocking u and dey gone about dey bizness like dey doh care.
