I had this video sent to me several times.... and in every case I felt the need to describe what I was seeing.... two entirely different circumstances.

First if you look at the two 'subject coconuts' you will find not only were they two different varieties... they were also two different sizes... and I am almost certain two different 'ages of nut'.

In the case of the fella #1 in Hawaii.

... he was working with a much larger nut, much 'thicker' nut, much older nut...that nut he had there was 'ready for sugar cake' (go back and check out the colour of the nut and the bruising on it... it was moments away from turning brown....with the thickness and dryness of that 'husk'....there is no way anyone could cut that thing open in one swipe.

In the case of fella # 2 in Trinidad

...he is working with a nut that is smaller.... fresher (look how much greener it is, and how soft the jelly is) .... the variety of nut he is working with also looks like a 'graft' between a Chinese coconut nut and another variety.

I am sure if the Trini vendor was working with an old nut like the fella in Hawaii that he couldn't cut it in one swoop.

Snow, the secret is in the gilpin. The hawaiian one did not look as sharp.

I still say the fella in T&T couldn't clear the top of an 'older coconut' ....the way he did that young one.
