I could see tai shaking his head at this thread and mumbling something about perishables :\

this was my friend's Hurricane shopping list:

Riesling
Madeira or Marsala Wine

Shortening
Confectioner’s sugar 10X
Eggs
Almond extract
Almond paste
Apricot Jam
Honey
Bosc Pears – 5
Couple of Lemons
Bittersweet Chocolate - 15 oz. /or 21 oz. Semisweet
Espresso
Coffee
Heavy Cream

Parchment Paper

Tart Pan
Fry Daddy
Soufflé molds
Spring-form or open bottom cake mold
Water Filters

Pâte Brisée
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for rolling
8 Tbsp. (1 stick) unsalted butter, very-cold, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon sugar (increase to 1 1/2 teaspoons if for a sweet recipe)
4 to 6 Tbsp. ice water, very cold

Frangipane
1/3 cup almond paste (not marzipan)
2 teaspoons of sugar
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tablespoon of flour
1 egg
Pinch of kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon of almond extract

Chocolate Soufflé’
7 ounces finely chopped bittersweet or semisweet chocolate (http://www.foodterms.com/encyclopedia/chocolate/index.html)
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
3 large egg yolks
3 tablespoons warm water
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract (http://www.foodterms.com/encyclopedia/extracts/index.html)
1/2 cup sugar, plus 2 tablespoons
8 large egg whites, room temperature
1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice (http://www.foodterms.com/encyclopedia/lemon/index.html)
Confectioners' sugar for garnish
(He is teaching my sister the basics of french cooking- go figure)

B (http://www.foodterms.com/encyclopedia/garnish/index.html)eing the trini that I am- of course I am thinking about food. I do have the tuna cans, tins of peach and pineapple, crackers blah blah blah but I would like to make a nice meal if I can while I sit through this...what are you guys eating?

Nothing.
Stock up on endible foodstuff like fruits and vegetables that will not need cooking.

Have your CRIX vital supplies ready; accompanied by cheeze or some such; avocado/zaboca in season at hurricane time - hold on to them before they get blow away; it does go down good with the CRIX.

It is New York, not Rio Claro.

If power goes, it will come back long before you run out of bunker stock of carrots and crix.

ok so today I had
french toast and sunny side up eggs and a slice ah zaboca
made scrambled eggs for the hubby- and of course chai

lunch (which we just ate) curry aloo and curry ochro with parantha

dinner- TBD :\

I currently cooking some stew curry goat with my eddoes, sweet potato, plantain and black eyed peas. :) We having a good meal before it hits.

I was 0really feeling for some curry goat but I made baked chicken with a couple carrots, potatoes and a steamed rice with rosemary, parsley and red onions.

will give it a go one of these days
