There is a Woman's arm in the UNC called NATIONAL CONGRESS OF WOMEN with a Chairperson who shall be responsible for coordinating and promoting the affairs of woman in the party, this arm has a PR officer, secretary vice chairman, treasurer and so on, don't know if its the same thing but that is what there is now and I don't think presently they have any leader of that arm. It is something just like what the PNM had where we had strong women coming from like Norma Phillps and Muerial Donawar.
Like the PNM fraction with a strong leader it can become a very powerful in the politics it has worked of years in the Eric Williams era, I don't thing Manning wanted that fraction because they were too confrontational so he never revived that after Muerial died, so I don't see a powerful woman like Kamla not using this to her advantage as so many others in the PNM have in the past.

But from nominated to lead the party into the elections to this, it seems like a slap in the face of a woman who has the gall to aspire to be the next Prime Minister ( Executive).

You could call it boobey prize call it what you want but if the UNCA cant win the election Kamla cant get one fart, so all this talk about leader of this and PM is nonsense at the moment and if according to some on her COP wining the election Dookeran will be the next PM what is all the fuss over ? Why fight over a position that you cant get unless your party win the elections, and why the media even making this a issues and UNCA will lose so they should not worry about Kamla's position in the party.

(response to another thread as well).......
But does it make sense that a woman with the capability to run the country should be religated to being in charge of the Women's Arm of the party. That is akin to some chuvinastic households where even though the wives may be equal to or even smarter than their husbands, they are religated to the kitchen...... being that is woman's work.
Think where Golda Meir, Indira Gandhi, Margaret Thatcher, Benazir Bhutto, Eugenia Charles; think what the world would have been like had these women be religated to ' The Woman's Arm' of the party.
This should be a wake up call to all of you aspiring young woman politicians; choose your alliances carefully; and what ever you do, do not let a man tell you what you are capable of, especially when you know your self worth is much greater.

Sounds like something a true 'whipped woman' would say; maybe someone should tell Mister Panday that the days of chattel is over, that women are no longer just lap dogs meant to lick their master's face; women are no longer things to be used when needed (like to collect payoff's of say 10 million); then discarded if they pose a threat.
Unfortunately for some though, they are still waiting to be liberated.

And who was the Chairperson? What has/will become of her? When last did they meet? Why isn't there a representative on the Leadership Council..., when 3 members come from the UNC? Do they have a voice in policy making? Is Oma and Mickela members, or are they far too important for that?

Dooks go give he son a party as well? I thought party leaders were elected. According to Cadiz that democratic process is dead in the UNC and PNM.
Please don't come out and say Cadiz lie. I expect a little more tact than that from the UNC supporters. Allyuh were so happy when he joined your so-called alliance.

According to Cadiz that democratic process is dead in the UNC and PNM.
Well with people like Cadiz in there it must be dead. You have a democratic vote among seven leaders who should lead and all but 1 choose Warner and Jack and you don't like that.
Cadiz appears to be the man who don't like democracy. Regardless of what he thought Panday would not want to lead. The committee make an almost unanimous decision and you doh like it so you run.
If he's not prepared to accept the results of a vote among team members, then he's not a team player and better off out of the team.
He is probably power hungry himself so now feel no way he can get what he want with the 'powerful hungry' Bas there also.

If he so power hungry then why does he not join up with a party that seems to be in contention? or keep his mouth quiet and stay with the UNC hoping for a slice of the pie if they win power?
Cadiz is a man everybody respected for his honesty and integrity. UNC supporters were in their element when he came on board. Typical UNC though, when he leave then it mud slinging and trying to smear the man good name by saying he lie.
I don't think Cadiz is the only one to leave the UNC and say Panday power hungry. Everybody else who do that lie?

If it were so then Kamla would have lead them into the elections rather than Panday and Jack on a thinly veiled race card. Multiple sources have said that Panday wants the PM spot now.
Kamla cried real tears and I doubt they were any emotion other than hurt at being betrayed.

Stranger things have happened. She has lost some of my respect for staying there and taking that type of demotion while being nothing but a loyal soldier. It must hurt to be stabbed in the back for loyalty by your leader but she should know who she made her bed with and have expected that based on past incidents.
Kamla should sit this election out and resign from the UNC. If she doesn't want to jump ship thats fine but how much times will Panday take away what she has worked to achieve and she will stay there and take whatever he give her? It seems every time Ramesh come back on the scene she get the shaft in some way or another.
So none of our UNCer's knows who the incumbant leader of the UNC women's arm is ? hmph
de woman hurt buh she still have she pride... she stickin it out... and lookin foolish at dat... but at de end of it all she will never, never have an equal chance to become PM as everyone else as Bas said... who he tink he foolin by sayin dat...

Oh such bleeding hearts for kamal now!!!! This is the same woman that some of you were saying is ineffective as a opposition leader, the woman that has a drinking problem, the woman that is a puppet of Panday, a woman that stupid because she keeps saying she has one leader and that is Panday, a woman that was called the pipe lady, but now is oh poor Kamla, she is the best choice, she should be PM.
I really wonder if the decision was made to give her the lead if all of these things would not of been said, we would I am sure be hearing that she only keeping the seat warm for Panday, she will never be able to stand up to Panday.
Every time I come on here and see how hypocritical some of you posters are I really wonder why I should go out and vote? Some of you move with the old talk once it suits your party, Kamal was not chosen so now she is the best because that it is a asset to the COP to create a air of confusion in the voting public minds, If she was given the lead of the UNCA the talk would not be that she was good, she would of instantly become the most hated woman out there for COP supporters.
Just as the case of Achong wife, Valley, and all the others that the COP members had problems with once there is a avenue or a decision made by them to move away from the UNC/PNM they instantly become the best persons in society, all weakness forgotten, all things of the past forgotten, they become the stars of the universe clean whole and repentant again all they have to do is show that they either don't want Manning or have a problem with Panday.
And some of you wonder why T&T is in the mess its in

I think that she was the laughing stock from Thursday to Sunday, but that changed after she eclipsed Panday at the Rally. The writing is on the wall for Panday, Kamla is growing more popular than he, and that spells disaster. She gave an excellent and damning speech, in keeping with a true leader. Who vex loss! Da is why the great betrayer snubbed her. She will prove to be a thorn in his naked quest for power as she is far more credible and did not deliver government to the PNM.

Just over three weeks ago I posted a comment that within three weeks Kamla would have been named Leader of the UNC. In fact what I predicted did materialise but I did not anticipate the palace coup staged by Warner/ Panday consortium. That happpened after. Jack's leadership ambitions became evident when chastized Kamla and Tim Gopiesingh for making public Kamla's health condition . If this all of this had to do with a master strategy for defeating the PNM even Kamla would have accepted it. On more than one occaision she offered to move aside if by so doing the country would be saved from the Manning threat. In her speech for her "no woman no cry" masterpiece in thanking well wishers for their letters of support she said "do be concerned about me, be concerned about your country" In addition to the concern about the Manning Menace as a society we ought to take notice of what was revealed by the Panday/Warner action. To what extent was this expressions of gender bias, sexism, male chauvinism and abandonment of democratic values. She has been bruised but not sullied or soiled by this experience. Her detractors seem more concerned about the image of the Party on the eve of elections and would have preferred if she explained her bruises as a result of an accidental fall from the staircase.
She is indeed a role model and a praticioneer of politics for the future

Another post that Dr Jones-Kernahan has held, and in fact holds now, is that of chair of the women's arm of the UNC. She mentioned that too, but didn't explain how it differs from being the head of the "women's contingent of the army of the UNC Alliance," perhaps because nobody important has bothered to work it out yet.
I sure Judy Raymond is a good source after all last week you was quoting from she, Macco.

You are trying to allude that there is no such post for Kamla, I know Kamla just has a very successful womans meeting, I know women have openly supported Kamla if you have proof that Dr. Jones is the head all I am saying is am willing to look it that is all.
