Do u know of other that perform a similar function?
Can u think of other types of gadgets that would be more efficient at getting the spoken word recorded and typed?

Digital pens and stylus have been around for some time, but only in specific uses does one need such a thing. They were big when PDAs first were released, but the PDA market largely has morphed into the smartphone market, and most smartphones now have at least a capacitive touchscreen and not a stylus.
IMO, a decent smartphone could work just as well.

Great product. I own one. Excellent tool if you are an avid note taker. It would make a great gift for a student going off to university. The device creates a digital copy of what you have written. It also has an audio recorder with which audio recordings may be played back via hyperlink to any reference point on the handwritten notes. The digital copy once uploaded to a computer is searchable.

No.

Unfortunately, the device does not transcribe audio recordings. For efficiency, you are stuck with audio recording and sending off to a transcription service.

Disagree. Smartphones are not designed for note taking.
