View Full Version : Simple Breakfast recipes?
Hi y'all. I'm looking for some ideas some simple foods for breakfast. Things that aren't going to take more than 5 minutes to prepare, and don't require many ingredients.
So far, my staple menu has been:
Whole wheat bread with PB&J, cheese, or eggs
Eggs (fried, scrambled or omelet)
Cereals
Malta
Right now, I'm experimenting with these new items I've picked up from the states:
"Hashed browns"
and "French Toast".
(For my own reasons, I don't eat pork or beef).
Does anyone have any other neat ideas on what to make for breakfast? Some quick and easy recipes to share?
Post 'em here please ;)

Wheatabix, yoghurt and honey. yommy!
I also make my own granola and it makes about 12 bars and healthier cause I cut the sugar out now and use honey instead.
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup honey
75 g butter
1tsp cinammon
and add 1 cup of what ever you like eg : shredded coconut, raisins, cranberries etc.
melt butter, add rest of ingredients & mix well. bake in 180deg oven for 15 mins or till it gets golden brown....
Daiz it ...it really easy....then you could eat breakfast while driving to work!

Oat Meal [/b](can make it in the micro wave if you add you milk right away, done in less than 2 minutes
Poached Egg (if you make it in the micro wave less that 30 seconds; plus time to crack the egge and add a dab of butter in the cup as well)

I created this one....1/4 cup museli, 1/4 cup corn flakes, 1/4 cup coco pops, 1/4 cup dried fruit....milk over it all and microwave for 1 or 2 mins... the cocopops melt into the milk, making a lovely cereal in choccie milk....sooooo yummy!
an omlette with a glass of juice.....takes all of three mins to prepare.

I made these this weekend cause I like something different from fruity muffins...it real easy and it keeps in the fridge for about 3 o 4 days.
Cheeze Muffins
225g self-raising flour
50g plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ level tsp bicarbonate of soda
¼ tsp salt
½ level tsp mustard powder
100g strong cheese , half grated, half cubed - soya cheese...works good!
6 tbsp vegetable oil
150g alpro soya plain yogurt -
125ml soya milk
1 egg
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Heat oven to 200C/fan 180C.
Mix the self-raising and plain flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda, salt and mustard powder in a bowl.
In a separate bowl, mix the cheese, oil, yogurt, milk, egg and Worcestershire sauce.
Combine all the ingredients and divide between the muffin cases in the muffin tin.
Place in the oven for 20-25 mins until golden. Remove and cool slightly on a rack.
Easy eh...and sooo yummy....

Today i made bhagie omelette for breakfast. I have been promoting this breakfast dish as an easy, delicious and nutritious one for awhile. I had cooked bhagie left over from yesterday (spinach).
2 eggs beaten with salt and a little black pepper.
spray some pam on non stick fry pan
Pour beaten eggs, when half cooked put a good helping of bhagie and let finish cook.
Fold the omelette in pot. Serve on toasted whole wheet bread
OR can be eaten by itself.

bachelor survival tip : breakfast :
when i feel like it, on a sunday, i sometimes make extra pancakes, let them cool, spread slight butter on both sides, stack them with paper in between, and put them in the freezer. AS long as you seal the bag properly and expel as much air as you can, they wouldnt get freezer burn.
At mornings during the week , i put them in the toaster oven on medium heat and they come out as if they've just been made. (Dont let them thaw first or they'd get too soggy). I prefer the toaster than the microwave for heating., with micro, they tend to get stiff while eating (unless you are having just one and are a quick eater.)
I like my syrup warm so i also got little plastic shot glasses to heat it in the microwave.
So having done most of the preps on sunday, this only takes about 5-6 mins on a weekday.
