Well, we've been talking about mysteries and phenomenon, from ghosties, to whether or not aliens exist and come down here on our planet. But I gotta tell you. Here's one that's-you gotta know a little bit about. How many of you remember the entire Y2K scare? Everybody remember Y2K? What if I told you that 1500 years ago, one of the greatest calendars of all time predicted this as the end of the Earth. And there have been now, oracle and example after example after example all pointing to this, the 21st of December the year 2012, as the end of the world as we know it today. And that's only five years away. And let me tell you something. This year, there are scientists that are getting together to talk about some things that they think may be what may be--what causes this. We'll talk more about it. Take a look at this.

MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
What would you do if you knew you only had five more years to live? According to ancient prophecy, planetary formation and even Internet-based data, doomsday is close at hand. 1500 years ago, the Mayans from Central America devised an amazingly accurate calendar predicting the perfect alignment of the Earth, sun and a black hole in our galaxy. This event, which apparently happens every 26,000 years, was only recently discovered by the world's scientists. Medieval psychics, Native American tribes and now an Internet-based software program called the Webbot, which has already predicted international disasters, all tell of a doomsday in our time. Are these random coincidences, the aimless raves of crazy people or could December 21st, 2012 be the last days for all of us?

Please welcome Mr. Larry Joseph to the show. Welcome him. Here's the book, the author of the book, Apocalypse 2012, which is really stirred up, I'm gonna say it this way, when I say it, has now stirred up the world.
APPLAUSE
LARRY JOSEPH (AUTHOR, APOCALYPSE 2012)
Thank you.
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
There are a lot of people who have talked about it. It's been all over the place. Let's go back for a second, 'cause we have to explain this. Why don't you tell them why you even wrote this book to begin with. And I'll hold it up. 'Cause I'm telling you, you should go out and get a copy. I've been all over it for about a year and a half. This is the reason why we're doing it. so, but go ahead. Why?
LARRY JOSEPH (AUTHOR, APOCALYPSE 2012)
Okay. I'm the chairman of a small plasma physics company. And plasma is, is energy in gaseous form. And the principle scientists said to me that the, the sun, which is a big ball of energy in gaseous form, is misbehaving, is making mayonnaise is the way he put it.
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
In the last year and a half, 40,000 to 50,000 scientists who now recognize there's a big problem have all gotten together collectively to study this issue to find out whether or not these, there will be any ramifications from what's going on with the sun.
LARRY JOSEPH (AUTHOR, APOCALYPSE 2012)
Absolutely. It's called the International Heliophysical Year. And it's, it's a major, major collaboration. You haven't heard much about it, but it's going on. And-again, there are six satellite missions going around the sun right now, examining what's happening. And the one thing everyone can agree on is that the next climax of solar activity, the next period of the most ferocious storms and explosions, which will pummel the Earth is gonna come in 2012.
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
But in the last five years or six years, have there not been more solar flares, more solar sun spots, more activity that science is now associating with things like the tsunami in the, in the Indian Ocean?
LARRY JOSEPH (AUTHOR, APOCALYPSE 2012)
To understand the Earth without understanding its connection to the sun is like trying to understand your TV without plugging it in. We are plugged into the sun for our dear life. And, for example, talking about storms on the Earth, with all the coverage of Katrina and then Rita and Wilma and, and the fall of New Orleans thereafter, one of the stormiest periods ever recorded on the Earth, did you ever hear that it was also one of the stormiest periods ever recorded on the sun?
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
See, nobody's heard that, because now, I, I gotta take a little break. But before I do, please welcome Melodie to the show. Melodie, how are you?
APPLAUSE
MELODIE (BELIEVES THE WORLD COULD END)
Doing good. Thank you.
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
One of our viewers. You got caught up in this whole idea. Why? 'Cause your daughter came home one day and said something to you about, mom, I'm studying Mayan history. And they have this really weird thing. It's called the Mayan calendar. How many people in the room have heard of the Mayan calendar? Raise your hand. Now, let me explain something to you real quick. I gotta say this. In the last 100 years, almost every single solar, what do you--environmental kind of phenomenon, from the tsunamis to hurricanes, have almost been predicted on this calendar, correct? Eclipses of the sun. You name it.
LARRY JOSEPH (AUTHOR, APOCALYPSE 2012)
They're uncanny, they're uncanny.
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
Uncanny. Almost to the--predicted to, in some cases, one-tenth of 100 of a percentage point to what we've been able to predict with computers.
LARRY JOSEPH (AUTHOR, APOCALYPSE 2012)
They predicted it. 1500 years ago without telescopes, computers, spacecraft, nothing.
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
Okay. And they predicted through the Mayan calendar that the calendar ends on December 21st, 2012. They predicted that that will be now what will be the fourth phase, third phase of the Earth?
LARRY JOSEPH (AUTHOR, APOCALYPSE 2012)
Fourth.
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
Fourth phase of the Earth. They predicted this 1500 years ago. Why are you so concerned about this?
MELODIE (BELIEVES THE WORLD COULD END)
Well, you know, I've got, I've got a family. And I'm a survivor. I'm a person who, who wants to make it through and, and be a pioneer in, in the new world. And there is so much scientific evidence that something catastrophic and disastrous is gonna affect this planet on a scale unprecedented in human history.
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
And what could this be, folks? It's not like a meteor's gonna hit the planet. But what could happen, because of all the solar flares, solar activity, because solar energy is energy, it affects metal, the Earth is made of metal, several--the mantel of the Earth is made of metal. If the, if the sun goes haywire on crack and starts blasting the Earth, one prediction is that the Earth's entire polar axis will, axis will tilt 45 degrees. When that happens, 45 to 50 degrees, when that happens, every volcano on the planet could erupt.
MELODIE (BELIEVES THE WORLD COULD END)
Yeah.
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
The seas could boil over. All of a sudden, we're all sitting here. And within five to 10 days, you could be in total darkness. And we all going, dang, I thought that wasn't true. Let me take a break. We'll be back right after this.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
Well, Mitch Horowitz is a writer and editor that has been studying this entire theory for a long time. I gotta tell you, let me back up for a second, because Joe asked me the question, how do I--what, what started me on this? I saw a special on the History Channel. And I watch the History Channel a lot. I saw the special, and that kind of freaked me out. And then I started digging, and started looking, and started digging. And as I started digging, it becomes scary. 'Cause you're really--if you start looking into this information, you could have a fatalist attitude. Mitch, what's going on? Why don't you tell them with I Ching is. I Ching is, is kind of like a tarot card for the Chinese people. Explain it.
MITCH HOROWITZ (BELIEVES THE WORLD COULD END IN 2012)
It can be used that way, but it's made up from one of the oldest languages known to man. It's a 5,000-year-old hieroglyphic language. Some people use it for prediction. The ancient Chinese used it to communicate. The interesting thing with the I Ching is--there was a very brilliant scholar who died a few years ago who turned it into a calendar. He used a very complex method and a lot of complex computer programs to map it out on a timeline. He discovered that the Chinese ended their calendar in the year 2012. It was only later that he learned that the ancient Mayan civilization ended their calendar at the same point. And he began to think, something's happening.
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
Talk a little bit about the oracles. And all the people, the prophecies of our past, you know, they all seem to agree with the same thing, do they not?
MITCH HOROWITZ (BELIEVES THE WORLD COULD END IN 2012)
Yes. There were a number of ancient oracles and prophecies that centered on the year 2012. Some of them were right here on our own continent. The Hopi Indians are the oldest Indian tribe in America. They believed that our generation, the time we're living in right now, was some kind of a period of great transition. The Maya believed the same thing. There were ancient Roman and Greek oracles that also pointed to our own time period. The incredible thing is these weren't civilizations that are so terribly far away, but the Mayan and Hopi civilizations, they were right here on the American continent.
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
Well, Lawrence, let's go back. So, what do--again, let's, let's look at it from a scientific standpoint. If, in fact, it's just science and we're looking at the fact that, the truth is, December 21st, 2012, this planet will be aligned in a way that it has not been aligned in a couple hundred thousand years.
LARRY JOSEPH (AUTHOR, APOCALYPSE 2012)
Twenty-six thousand years. And...
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
Twenty-six thousand years?
LARRY JOSEPH (AUTHOR, APOCALYPSE 2012)
Yes.
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
So, the planet--and we--some science seems to think that the last time it may have been in this alignment, there's so much energy coming from the milky way and other things that it wobbled the Earth. This is what some people anticipate. And, and some of the oracles point to our times with what's going on in the Middle East, what's going on in our society, what's going on with us as a society of people.
MITCH HOROWITZ (BELIEVES THE WORLD COULD END IN 2012)
The oracles do point to our time. But I wanna say one thing. We are living through scary times. But I don't want people to be scared...
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
Right.
MITCH HOROWITZ (BELIEVES THE WORLD COULD END IN 2012)
...because it is possible that these oracles are also pointing to an inner change, to an inner shift in humanity.
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
Right.
MITCH HOROWITZ (BELIEVES THE WORLD COULD END IN 2012)
The Maya were as concerned with the great cosmos as they were concerned with man's inner life. We really ought to think about that. It doesn't necessarily mean hurricanes and volcanoes.
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
And this could be a time where man might get a grip and start realizing that we gotta stop killing each other.
MITCH HOROWITZ (BELIEVES THE WORLD COULD END IN 2012)
God willing.
LARRY JOSEPH (AUTHOR, APOCALYPSE 2012)
Absolutely.
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
God willing.
APPLAUSE
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
Could be that phenomena. I'm gonna tell you. The book is in a bookstore near you right now. It is called 2012 by Lawrence Joseph. And it, and, and I, I would--I very seldom do this, I do it with some books, but I'm gonna tell you, go get a copy. Why? It's fun reading. Why? 'Cause just in case something like this were to go down, I'm not gonna change a thing I'm doing today. I'm still gonna be doing the Montel Williams Show on, on December 20th, 2012. And wake up the next morning going, dang.
LAUGHTER
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
You know what? Did it really? Or I may wake up the next morning just like I did the morning of Y2K and say, see how they are?
LAUGHTER
MONTEL WILLIAMS (HOST)
Or hopefully, we don't all wake up and try to figure out how to survive. I don't know. Pick up a copy of the book. Let me take a break. When we come back, a woman who says that she can speak to just about anybody, living, dead, anybody. We'll be back right after this.
