Ok we have seen the candidates for COP and PNM what do you feel are the chances of some of these persons. My take is I was expecting more from the COP the Diego Martin candidates are a total waste they not making a dent in the PNM so we can forget those seats, these two fellas tried under a citizen alliance ticket and lost their deposits I guess they would like to repeat that effort once again. Dyer poor child I don't think she stands a chance against the young doctor that has replaced Valley.

Mr Ramlogan and Mr. Ramadhar this was the big noise of the COP on the podium they did not come off as if they could move anyone but I guess they are banking on the indo vote to put them over the top, Achong's wife a total waste PNM people will deal with her big time have no idea why the COP felt she had to be in the mix. There were a few in the mix that lord I don't know how far these people feel they will get for god sakes people its the PNM you are dealing with a party that is in government and has years of experience at election this has to be a joke.

We all know what the typical PNM supporter is going to do, as Patrick boldly picked his players without having a worry in the world about a massive backlash. That's the whole point Macco, when you have a party that is led by not one, but two men with very shady past; both embroiled in fraud, or monkey business anyway (Jack and his family wid Fifa high jinks; and Bas and his wife with the mysterious 10 million); what does that say of the people who follow them?

I too, for the sake of T&T had hoped that (even in the 11th hour) the two parties would have merged to save the country; but I too felt that in order for this to happen the 'old guard' had to step down or at least step aside. Well thanks to Stephen Cadiz et all it doesn't appear that this merger will ever take place.

Now do I blame Winston and company? Absolutely not. Winston is using his own track record as an example of what can happen in a party where there are too many chiefs, especially if one has dictator tendencies. Look what Bas did to the UNC in the last five years (reduced them to laughingstock status), and they were only one party then, can you imagine what he will be doing now that he has a multiple of parties under him?

Basdeo Pandy and company squandered five years in office on internal squabbling. At a time when they should have been launching a unified Opposition to the PNM, he instead used the five years to either turn on his own, or try to defend his 'bad behaviour'. In essence, Basdeo Pandy and company gave Patrick Manning a 'free ticket', five years with no Opposition, which is why Patrick was able to 'cram' so much garbage down the throats of Trinidadians.

Winston is quite correct at staying focused on the task at hand, and avoiding any associations that potentially take him away from that.

- Jack and Panday to show racial solidarity. Why bring up the race card? A black man to win the black vote and an Indian to win the Indian vote in this day and age? Discrimination by distinction and a cheap trick.
- Kamla was the last shining hope even though she really backed up Bas when he was spouting his garbage. Bas kill off her threat and now that the people vex want to patch things up but not give up his chance for power.
- Bas under corruption charges. What go happen if he get convicted while in office? Another election for the PNM to win now?

The above summarises 80% of the COP in this prelude to Nov5th .. a lot of self-delusional sloganeering, boosted by a lot of self-patting on the back by a hopeful moneyed-class and media elite.
what are the real issues and who is the team to grapple with T&Ts complex issues? Selby Wilson and Devant with Sat in the background?
As bad as the PNM may appear, the scattered simplistic solutions being proffered are being seen by a significantly increasing number of discerning people as a mix of naivity and empty rhetoric. Meanwhile the "grassroots" are galvanising in both the traditional 2 parties as they feel that this is a coming together of the old NAR who are all about pressuring "little people" while they hold their noses in the air and preach rainbow politiics
So yes the COP is growing and gaining some momentum, but this is largely an indication of the growing "new" T&T middle class (IMO a largely shallow group) who nevertheless will never have enough numbers to beat the established parties.

For one, I will be voting the PNM, because rest assured, with that bunch, if they win elections, they not lastin more than a year. I would hate to waste my time behind a party like that. And in any event, the UNC - A or a coalition at this stage is not going to form the government. I have never supported the UNC because of Panday and I never will. What's all the fuss about Ravi Ratiram? He was alright to many a year + ago. If the UNCA and COP came together yesterday or do so today, his political life would not be an issue.

Was looking at an interview that sweet looking Simone Harris had with Rocky Garcia this afternoon. He does not come across as part of the cream of the COP at all. A lot of broad statements about money coming down to the community, sometimes punctuated his sentences with "Mr Winston Dookeran a man of integrity" blah blah blah..

He even answered his mobile phone during the interview.

Anybody else leading the UNC would have caused opposition unity and winning the election and putting PNM out of office would have been a "slam dunk". It is still not too late. Panday and Ramesh have betrayed the hopes of the people.
It was Ramesh as AG who hired the private investigator in the UK to uncover the Panday's London bank account. He most likely confronted Panday with the evidence.
Panday responded by firing Ramesh as AG. Ramesh responded by influencing Sudama and Ralph Maraj to resign and handed the evidence against Panday to Manning and offered himself as special prosecutor against Panday. All of this resulted in Panday instead of trying to compromise and keep his govt together,as the people electid him to do,calling an election after only one year in office and losing the election,practically handing power to the PNM on a silver platter.
Why should any sane person vote for any one much more the two of them ever in life again after that betrayal. They showed no consideration respect or caring for the people who put them in office, it was as if the people never existed.All that mattered was their personal struggle for power and screw the people the party et al
Now they both have the unmitigated gall to come before the people again skinnin dey teet an askin for vote, they should be sent away minus some teeth.
Again I ask Why should we vote for any party led by Panday and including Ramesh?
