Allyuh really jokey!! Talk about wishful thinking! The PNM was able to full the square even with huge showers (2 hours nonstop heavy rain) in POS.
Even anti_PNM Martin Daly on the TV6 post-mortem was impressed with the PNM turnout and the new slate of candidatesat at their rally.
Of course, the COP-favouring press will try to underplay this in tomrrows papers.

They may also under-report the collapse of thestorm-in-a-teacup rift everyone was trying to blow up: e.g Eddie Hart embracing his replacement, John Rahael on the platform announcing new candidates, likewisee Diane Seukeran, and an upbeat Fitzgerald Hinds on interview referring to the positive talks he had with his replacement.

Sorry folks, you got to keep looking for some other chinks, in the well-oiled PNM election machinery.

I was really impressed that Hinds, Raheal and Diane came out just goes to show they stand by their party no matter what, they may have their difference but it stays in the party and you have to give them credit for that

Really?

So tell me what is it that Manning could give Rahael once the latter decided to leave politics? Likewise Diane? These are all succesful business people in their own right and some "position" in the party is of no consequence.
You folks keep spouting the usual buzzwords in relation to the PNM, close your eyes, block your ears and keep shouting, "dem sycophants", "dem uneducated" , "dem dotish" !! It's the kind of elitist nonsense that flows so easily from the likes of Nirwad Tewarie and others on the COP platform. If you are not with their party you are simply unintelligent.

Has anyone really looked at the PNM slate of candidates get really people their slate is very impressive, all yuh keep talking this nonsense but PNM is going to be hard to beat and COP sure as hell not moving them not with that nonsense line of candidates they put forward today, even Dookeran has to watch his seat because that woman on the PNM ticket looking real dangerous.

So keep talking trash and not face reality the COP promised something special to me they failed you really feel by putting up Anand Ramlogan and Prakash Ramadhar that will take the election? PNM going to beat them like a untuned steel drum, after all the hype sorry they fail big time.

I was at the PNM rally in Woodford Square. I have been going to PNM and ULF events since 1976 when I was 4 years old.

Yesterday however was different. This was by far the largest PNM crowd that I have ever seen in the Square. The place was just overflowing with people.

But there was something else. The mood of the audience. For the first time in many years the supporters were not speaking in terms of negatives but rather positives in terms of the accomplishments of the administration as opposed to the last few election campaigns which were fought on the faults of the UNC or NAR.

The COP event held there a month ago was akin to raising a Jack Spaniard nest. The people came out to reclaim "their" square.."their" holy and sacred ground.

This piece of land was the birthplace of the PNM and yesterday it was re-purified.

After all of the blood letting of the last weeks in the candidate screening process it was clear that the party had closed ranks. Eddie Hart escorting Esther Le Gendre around on the stage. John Rahael and Diane Seukeran introducing candidates. Fitzgerald Hinds working the crowd and media in support of Donna Cox's candidacy.

This is why the PNM has been a solid entity for 51 years....51 years....that's older than most of the persons who post on this forum.

The biggest loser yesterday was Kenneth Valley.

The best public speaker yesterday was the newest candidate Dr. Amery Browne. Highly articulate and good looking (I am a man but dont read anything into dat eh!). Contrast that with overweight, sleeping on himself Kenneth Valley.

Keith Rowley received the loudest welcome of any of the candidates. His position as successor to Patrick Manning is being cemented by the party faithful.

The COP candidates by contrast for the Diego Martin seats now appear laughable when compared to the likes of Rowley, Browne and Imbert.

I do not understand the COP selection of Selby Wilson for Point Fortin. The PNM will have a field day with him. He was the NAR Minister of Finance who removed COLA and cut salaries by 10%. The people have never forgotten that one.

Clyde Weatherhead in Tunapuna? What will they think of next? Perform a seance and ressurect some more "political corpses"? Because this slate is just not going to cut it. Too many old faces. Too many discredited faces. Too old for the supposed "new politics".

I will be down at the UNC launch today so I if I see a burning flame that will be The Light! And if I see a very bright, pretty young lady who is destined to be a future leader of this country that will be Sumana! You go girl!

I going to get ready now and wine down de place with some of them Brazilian women who have come in with the drummers and rock on with my pardners in Orange Sky.

Yeah man, allyuh doh listen. The COP's propaganda has awoken the sleeping PNM giant. The PNM had at least 25,000 -30,000 people in Woodford Square inspite of possibly the worse rain I have seen for the season. 25,000-30,000 in torrential rain people! Read into that what you like but the COP has now given PNM supporters reason to come out in their numbers on election day. I feel this will spur the PNM to at least 32-34 seats. UNC and the no-safe-seat COP could fight it out for the rest. Parliament go sure look funny with 5 UNC and 2 COP MPs... and ah being generous to de COP eh. :D

If you also realise, Manning does take people with masters and Phd degrees and people in high ranking positions in firms to join the PNM.....that is why they look impressive. I think the other parties should also take that route if they want to try to contest the elections with the PNM.

Well said KBB! Well said!

As I said earlier, I was in the UNC rally yesterday and the PNM on Saturday. So all of this nonsense about a race between the PNM and COP was only wishful thinking from the COP media friendly machine.

The largest event of the weekend was the PNM followed by the UNC.

The happiest person today is Patrick Manning and the most relieved man is Basdeo Panday.

The COP with their often touted "New Politics" have proven again that you will have to struggle for several election cycles with failure before you can properly engineer a 3rd force. If you are not prepared to do that then you will have to engineer change from within. However, with so many sycophants whispering tales of "greatness" and "21 gun salute" and "you will be the next PM!" in your ears then even the most worthy of men will start to suffer some sort of delusions.
