benefitters: big businesses, kids who have people to fuss over them.
non-benefitters: kids who have no one to fuss over them and having to watch others around them exhilerated over a playstation or new things; people who still have to work on the day; old people who have no family left or to care for them; the less fortunate who are just that...less fortunate no matter what time of year it is.

Aside from the commercialization, it's a good time for families to get together and it's a time for the children to enjoy themselves.

Are u kidding me? Who benefits? Who doesnt!?
Everybody benefits! There's a feeling of joy that pervades the air around this time. Ppl are the more generous...to friends, families, charities.... they smile more...
Families come together, friends visit.
ANYBODY who took the opportunity to attend Church or a Christmas concert with heartfelt carols being sung benefitted.
Everybody slow down and lower their guards a little to say 'seasons greetings' 'merry christmas'. Even the call I got from someone who mistakenly called the wrong number turned into a pleasant convo instead of the abrupt sorry and hang up.
Its a beautiful season, and as far as I've seen everyone benefits in some way.

How exciting one day of hypocrisy and minimum meaning just because people were moved either by song a de rememberance of what christmas should be about all of 24 hours. they over indulge themselves at the expense of others and themselves on food and material things and say hey merry xmas padnah then as soon as boxing day comes and de food run out is back to the murder murder kill kill selfish me me mentallity.

yeahhhhh for xmas and all that it has become. only those with money can talk up in their asses about how great a season it is. and see all the wonders of a season that is soley material.

yuh really want to impress people? then be good, generous, pleasant, humble, friendly 365 days of the year that would be impressive.

EXACTLY! One day's reprieve from the craziness that marks the rest of the year. Thats a benefit.

I disagree. In my later teen years, my parents went through a financial crash and we were basically scrunting. There was NOTHING to cook except dhal and rice. Gifts were out of the question. We had known a wealthy life before, but one that was always grounded in spiirituality so that even though we had nothing, we had each other.. and a radio. And we played Christmas carols that whole christmas week and cleaned the house and remembered past Christmases of fun and joked about what was in store for us this year. I remembered my mom's tearful apology bec we had nothing to get from them. I remember my father working late hours into the night for minimum wage hoping to make enough for another month's mortgage payment. That Christmas morning I woke up to a 50 cent Catch (the chocolate). My younger brother couldnt stand the thought of nothing on Christmas morning so he had scraped up all the stray coins in the house and went down to the parlour and bought us 50 cent chocolates the evening before. That was our Christmas. But even then we loved Christmas. Loved what it meant, loved the spirit of the season. It drew us closer as a family. It was the first of many hard years to follow. But I would never say I hadnt benefitted from one of those Christmases.

I have money now, but I'd go so far to say that maybe I benefitted even greater from those years than in these years of plenty. Its not about the material things. Christmas means what u want it to mean..and that is where your benefits lie.
