IN THE COP!

Jack Warner will lead the UNC Alliance into the general election, but he will not shoulder the responsibility alone as UNC political leader Basdeo Panday will be working closely with him.

However, no decision was taken on who would be the UNC Alliance’s candidate for prime minister.

A decision for this post would be taken after the November 5 election, they announced.

The annoucement of who would lead the party was made by Warner himself shortly after 7 pm, after a meeting of Alliance partners at Emerald Plaza in St Augustine.

“We agree that the chairman of the executive council of the UNC Alliance who will lead the party into the next election will be Jack Warner. The senior partner will be Mr Panday...we will both work together,” the UNC deputy leader told reporters.

If Kamla go with the COP, she still aint getting to lead any political party. She'll just retain the same position as she has with the UNC. What the woman has been chasing is a leadership role and after all these years in politics, she still getting shaft. I feel in years to come if Kamla still around, she might decide to form she own party......that is if she becomes power hungry.

First of all, the COP came into existence because of a handful of people in the UNC called the "cabal" and don't forget that.

Second, the UNC is not in Gov't today because it was handed to Manning and the PNM in 2001 and don't forget that.

Third, when Dookeran was appointed [not annointed] as the Political Leader and the UNC began to look attractive, a selfish old man decided he wanted back "his" party and the attacks on Dookeran began.

Fourth, Dookeran maintained his cool, took the insults and degradation meted out to him in strides until he heeded the cabal's call to take his jahagee bundle and go.

Fifth, the same fat ropes that the UNC-A is talking about, are the same fat ropes that was financing the UNC and who is now supporting the COP. So it was good for the UNC and not good for the COP?

Sixth, with the appointment of Bas and Jack as the leaders, the UNC whatever little credibility it had is GONE! Bas will always be remembered as the $10 mil convicted ex-Prime Minister jailed for his lack of integrity, and as for Jack, he is internationally known as FIFA crook. and

seventh the only person who was in a position to bring some sort of legitimate credibility to the UNC was Kamla and they sidelined her AGAIN.

Kamla worked very hard for the UNC leading the Opposition in Gov't and she deserved that position, and a lot of UNC supporters stuck around with the hope Kamla, and woman of substance, experience, integrity and impeccable character would have led the Party and made history as the 1st woman PM of T&T.

But alas, the 2 parriahs of the UNC has struck again, and put the final nail in the UNC coffin. Warner will soon realize that his money will not pave the path of success for the UNC in this or any election.

Even if COP doesn't get a seat, it is already quite clear that they are walking away with a lot of votes. that is a plus as it would mark the party as having a significant following and plant it on the political scene for the long haul. It's about time we do away witht he UNC and at the very least this would be a start.

That said, I stand firm in my belief that with the current trends, COP is going to walk away with a couple seats. Now if the UNC will stop shooting themselves repeatedly in their feet, maybe they will hold onto enough seats that between themselves and COP Manning won't get his special majority.

True, but while the others COPpers :lol: are constructively involved in their duties, hopefully her 'advisors' will get her to see reason. She still has so much to give to T&T it would be a shame to see it go to waste when the UNC goes down in flames :P
